Midwife at Heart. Engineer by Mind.
A lifelong journey through birth, innovation and digital transformation.
For more than 35 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting women and families through one of life’s most profound experiences: the birth of a child.
Every pregnancy, every birth and every family has taught me something new. This work continues to inspire me every single day.
Like any meaningful journey, mine has included moments of joy, challenges, unexpected turns and new beginnings. Yet one thing has never changed: I simply can’t imagine doing anything other than being a midwife.
Experience built through trust
Every birth enriches my experience. Every family leaves a lasting impression.
For me, success isn’t measured in numbers alone, but in the trust families place in me and the confidence they gain as they begin this new chapter of their lives.
Compassionate.
Experienced.
Forward-thinking.
Technology has the power to make maternity care more accessible, connected and inclusive.
By combining decades of clinical experience with digital innovation, we can overcome barriers, support families wherever they are, and help shape the future of maternity care.
This is what drives me.
Throughout my career my perspective has continually evolved. My experience has expanded beyond clinical practice, allowing me to contribute in many different ways.
Today I work as:

Where did the name come from?
“Thebamme” is far more than the name of a website. It’s a story that perfectly reflects my journey–with a touch of humour along the way.
Back in 2017, I founded the international multilingual platform “Call a Midwife”. As my work became increasingly international, I found myself speaking English every day.
There was just one small problem.
Whenever I tried to pronounce the German word Hebamme instead of translating it into English, it somehow became “The Bamme.”
My friends found it very funny.
For many years I had been known as Berlin’s “Capital Midwife”. On my English website this accidentally turned into the wonderfully confusing phrase “Capital of the Bamme.”
The nickname stuck.
For my birthday, my friends even surprised me with a lightbox reading:
“We love the Bamme!”
What began as a simple pronunciation mistake gradually became part of my identity.
Today, The Bamme represents everything I stand for: combining traditional midwifery with an international outlook, embracing innovation without losing the personal touch, and remembering that sometimes the most meaningful moments begin with a smile.
And if you look closely, you’ll still discover the original German word Hebamme hidden inside the name.
Sometimes the best stories begin by accident.
